International Women’s Day (IWD) is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women across society. With Women in Construction Week taking place around the same time, we’re proud to highlight the vital contribution women make to our industry and the diverse careers available at MGL Group.
Women currently make up around 15% of the UK construction workforce and the sector continues to face a growing skills shortage. Encouraging more women into construction is essential for the future of our industry.
At MGL Group, women represent 21% of our group staff and play key roles across the business, including two board positions, contributing in both operational and office‑based roles. From HGV driving, machine operations and groundworks to quantity surveying, marketing, administration and accounts, women are shaping every part of our organisation, which now has over 500 employees.
We actively support women in construction through NAWIC events and targeted outreach in all‑girls schools, helping to inspire the next generation and challenge outdated perceptions of a traditionally male‑dominated sector.
