Dismantling Pad Delivered by Rainton Construction at Able Seaton Port

Rainton Construction has successfully delivered a specialist concrete dismantling pad for Able UK’s Seaton Port in the North East. The successful delivery of this marine civil engineering project demonstrates Rainton Construction’s expertise as a civil engineering contractor, delivering specialist infrastructure solutions across a wide range of industries.

Central to the project was the construction of a substantial reinforced concrete slab spanning 15,200 m² and measuring 400 mm thick. The pad provides a robust working surface for these operations while effectively managing surface water.

Surface water management formed an important part of the overall works. Rainton Construction delivered an integrated drainage system incorporating ACO QMAX channels, two  oil water separators, water storage tank and a pumping station. Together, these elements provide an effective system for capturing and managing water across the extensive concrete surface.

Alongside the technical requirements of the project, responsible material management was another key focus throughout construction.

A total of 1,463 tonnes of suitable engineering fill was generated during the works were retained and reused within the project. By keeping these materials in use, the team reduced the requirement for waste to leave the site and maximised the value of available resources.

This approach helped the project achieve zero project waste sent to landfill, providing a significant sustainability achievement alongside the successful delivery of the new infrastructure.

The completed dismantling pad brings together large-scale reinforced concrete construction, specialist drainage infrastructure and responsible material reuse within a marine logistical port setting.
