As part of the Newcastle University buildings improvement programme, MGL Demolition are carrying out demolition and asbestos removal at the Henderson Hall site, Newcastle upon Tyne, and today Contracts Manager Chris Little along with Demolition Operative Raymond McAlinden dlivered some new gardening tools to the 'Wor Lotty' project next door, for the local school children to help them plant, grow and harvest produce, while enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
Wor Lotty, in association with Food Nation in Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne, provides a range of educational programmes that are suitable for children of all ages and any ability, including cooking, food growing and 'good nutrition' workshops.
Bespoke food and nutrition programmes can be designed for school groups as part of the school day or an extra-curricular activity.
Wor Lotty, is the Food Nation outdoor food growing site, close to the Newcastle University Henderson Hall site at Heaton, where adults and children can lend a hand in planting, harvesting and upkeep of the allotment site.
Anna Corbett and her team at 'Wor Lotty' provide an acitve learning environment that is visited regularly by primary school children.The produce from Wor Lotty is also used in the Harissa Kitchen menu and in food education projects.
