We were appointed for the removable of notifiable and non-notifiable asbestos containing materials (ACMs), with hand demolition works and remote demolition works thereafter.
The removal of notifiable materials (asbestos insulation board (AIB) shuttering, AIB debris paper lining to pipework and thermal insulation to the calorifier) was undertaken as per our Plan of Works and ASB5 notification to the HSE. Works consisted of removing ACMs running through the ducts from the school building that was to remain live into the section of the school that was to be demolished.
The removal of ACMs within the duct were undertaken within a defined confined space with the appropriate confined space entry permits and method statements being followed. Further removal works were undertaken in the plant room to remove thermal insulation from the calorifier.
The asbestos removal works were undertaken in advance of the demolition works, enabling the services to be isolated that ran from the live school into the section to be demolished.
Hand demolition works then commenced at the intersection between the school that was to remain and the section that was to be demolished. On completion of the hand separation, remote demolition works were undertaken to safely demolish the section of the school.
Site clearance of the demolition arisings followed by reinstatement completed our work on site.
