MGL Group Supports the Army Benevolent Fund

MGL Group is proud to support the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), the British Army’s national charity. Since 1944, ABF has provided vital support through financial assistance, practical help, and community outreach to soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families in times of need.

Over the last eight years, we have supported ABF and the annual Festival of Remembrance in Durham Cathedral. This poignant event commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Arnhem, paying tribute to the countless heroes who liberated Europe. It also celebrated the Charity’s 80th anniversary.

The Festival of Remembrance featured a powerful blend of music, spoken word, and military tradition. The event culminated in a moving Muster and Act of Remembrance, as thousands of poppies cascaded from the Cathedral’s tower, symbolising the sacrifices made, which MGL Group was honoured to sponsor once again.

Thank you to everyone who organised the event and the other supporters who helped make it possible: Ramside Hall Hotel, SCH Site Services, TCC Plant, Banks Group, Hy-Ten Reinforcement, AM Recruitment and CW Russell Haulage.

Recently, we welcomed the ABF team to Davison House. The cheque represents the amount that MGL Group has given over the last few years in direct support to ABF activities in the North East. The charity provides vital support to soldiers, veterans, and their families in need, including financial assistance, practical help, and community outreach. By supporting ABF, we can help those who have served our country and their loved ones access the help they need.

“The Army Benevolent Fund provides vital support to our nation’s heroes and their families. By sponsoring the Festival of Remembrance, MGL Group is proud to play a role in ensuring their legacy lives on. It’s a privilege to contribute to such a worthy cause and to honour the sacrifices of our Armed Forces.”

Gillian Reader, MGL Group Director

“The Army Benevolent Fund is so very grateful to MGL Group for their support over many years. Without this, and the support that they have advocated through their contractors and suppliers, the Festival of Remembrance simply could not take place. Not only has MGL Group’s support helped the Charity directly, but it has also enabled us to collectively deliver something very special to the communities of County Durham, giving them an appropriate opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of wars and conflicts over the years.”
