At MGL Group, we are committed to building futures. That’s why we’ve launched the MGL Group Undergraduate Scholarship (2026–2030) in partnership with Northumbria University, supporting students in a built natural environment discipline.
This initiative reflects our long-standing commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent and shaping a sustainable, inclusive future for the construction industry. With over 54 years of experience and deep roots in the North East, we understand the importance of investing in people and communities.
Northumbria University shares our values and mission to drive social mobility. More than 60% of its undergraduate students come from the North East, an area with the lowest progression rate to higher education in the UK, and 40% are from low-participation backgrounds. By working together, we aim to break down barriers and create opportunities for academically talented students, regardless of their circumstances.
Our partnership with Northumbria University goes far beyond delivering projects that have shaped its campus. We actively support:
- Full-time degree apprentices studying at the university
- Careers events and outreach initiatives
- Programmes like IntoUniversity, which raise aspirations among local young people
The new scholarship builds on this foundation, offering meaningful financial support to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and helping develop the diverse, future-ready talent our industry needs.
Northumbria’s Higher Education Without Barriers campaign has already raised £5.5 million, supporting over 2,500 students through financial aid, wellbeing services, and community projects. We’re proud to contribute to this vision and strengthen our role as a partner in progress.
“The launch of the MGL Group Undergraduate Scholarship is a natural extension of our commitment to education and social mobility. It’s about investing in people, supporting our region, and ensuring the construction industry continues to thrive with skilled, diverse talent.”
