Rainton Construction is delivering enabling works for the first phase of a £10 billion hyperscale data centre campus, QTS’s first in the UK. Located on the former power station site in Cambois, near Blyth, this landmark project will support growing demand for AI, cloud computing, and high-performance digital infrastructure.
Our team is preparing the site ahead of construction, including compound setup, vegetation clearance, perimeter repairs, and extensive earthworks. We’re also forming SUDs ponds and installing drainage systems to meet local authority standards. Sustainability is at the heart of our approach.
We’re working closely with ecologists and arboriculturists to protect biodiversity and minimise environmental impact throughout the project. Alongside this, we’re prioritising local employment, recruiting from nearby communities, supporting training opportunities, and contributing to regional economic growth. It’s all part of our commitment to being a responsible and engaged partner in the North East.
Once complete, the site will span up to 540,000 square metres, delivering long-term economic and social value to the North East. We are incredibly proud to play a key role in this transformative project.
