World Mental Health Day: One Chunk at a Time

At MGL Group, we believe that mental health matters every day, not just on World Mental Health Day (10 October).

This year, we marked the occasion with a simple yet powerful initiative: the Yorkie bar campaign. Inspired by the nostalgic “chunky, no-nonsense” chocolate bar, the campaign delivered a message that resonated across our sites and offices: “Tough day? Take it one chunk at a time.”

This isn’t just a clever play on words; it’s a proven stress management technique. Breaking down overwhelming challenges into manageable steps can make a real difference. By using Yorkie bars to convey this message, we created a light-hearted but meaningful way to encourage open conversations about mental health.

Bars were distributed across offices and sites, each featuring a sticker with a QR code linking directly to vital resources from the Lighthouse Charity and Westfield Health.

Mental health issues are common and not a sign of weakness. We know it can be tough to talk but it’s tougher not to. That’s why we’re committed to communicating with care, one chocolate bar at a time.

Whether it’s a colleague feeling overwhelmed or someone quietly struggling, a small gesture like a Yorkie bar can spark a big conversation. And that conversation might just be the first step towards support.

We’re proud of the response to this initiative and grateful to everyone who helped distribute bars, share resources, and start conversations. Let’s continue to champion mental health in the workplace not just today, but every day.
