As part of the transformation of healthcare services at Friarage Hospital, Rainton Construction has played a key role in delivering a brand-new car park to support the opening of a £35.5 million Surgical Centre, enhancing access for both patients and staff.
The state-of-the-art centre was officially opened on Friday, 11 July by Public Health and Prevention Minister Ashley Dalton, MP Rishi Sunak, and 80-year-old scrub nurse Anne Lamb. This purpose-built facility is set to double the number of planned operations carried out at the Northallerton hospital, significantly boosting surgical capacity and reducing waiting times for patients across North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley.
It is expected to deliver around 10,000 operations a year, including hip and knee replacements, gall bladder and cancer surgeries. Notably, it is one of only 15 NHS centres in the UK offering orthopaedic robotic technology.
Rainton Construction is proud to have supported this landmark project by delivering the new car park, ensuring the hospital is well-equipped to meet the growing needs of its patients and staff.
The opening was marked by a celebration that included an art competition in partnership with Northallerton Sixth Form College, with the winning design set to be displayed in the new centre.
This project reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting vital infrastructure that makes a real difference in local communities. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this world-class facility to life.
