New Assembly Shop (NAS) Building
MGL Demolition was appointed Principal Contractor to undertake a complete refurbishment of the New Assembly Shop (NAS) building, a live operational nuclear facility operating 24/7.
Our scope of delivery included the demolition, dismantling of redundant plant and equipment, asbestos removal and environmental cleaning, with support of Rainton Construction for works including installation of new plant and equipment, structural supports and services.
Scope of works
- Asbestos removal.
- Internal demolition, soft strip and M&E removal.
- Removal and installation of all structural crane beams and associated steel work.
- Removal of 4 overhead cranes.
- All associated civil engineering works from pad foundations to floor slab repairs.
- All steel work painting.
- Coordination of all M&E works.
- Coordination of installation of all GAS and Electrical MOP panels.
- Responsible for all access equipment for all trades, including extensive scaffold and temporary works.
- Overall health and safety responsibility for the project.

- Changes to programmed activities.
- Coordination and management of security access and deliveries of materials.
- Access to site and operational areas, limited work area and time.
- Validation and processing of all contractor and subcontractor RAMS.
- Provision and management of a Permit to Work system.
