Backworth Park

Rainton Construction was appointed to undertake improvement works to enable the final surfacing course on a new housing development in Backworth.

Working under the JCT minor works building contract we facilitated the installation of final surfacing to both roads and footpaths. Surfacing was undertaken by our in-house team and the material was provided by Tynedale Roadstone.

Scope of works

• Final surfacing of 10,000m2 of road including laybys
• Final surfacing of 5916m2 of footpaths
• Lifting road levels to achieve the correct falls on drive ways
• Installing speed bumps to help reducing speeding round the estate
• Adjusting services boxes with the road and footpath to suit new levels
• Installing new crossing points around the estate

To ensure clear communication and to mitigate impact on local people we sent out stakeholder communications to update residents on the project. Traffic management was temporarily installed reducing traffic flow to a single lane for duration of works.
