Quarry Manager

Location Barton, North Yorkshire

About the Role

As part of our continued growth and investment at Tynedale Roadstone, we are looking for a driven and capable individual with strong leadership qualities, a deep understanding of safe quarrying processes, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of site operations, from managing staff and coordinating equipment use to optimising productivity and ensuring operational efficiency.

As a member of the MGL Group, you will be committed to ensuring safe working conditions and adhering to all company principles, procedures, and regulations relevant to your role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with staff on site and deal with any technical or staffing challenges that may arise
  • Provide active leadership and management of safety processes and culture to minimise risk in all operational activities
  • Closely monitor all areas of the quarry to ensure that extraction and processing work is carried out to the highest standard
  • Undertake regular site inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Examine the materials produced to maintain high quality levels
  • Assist in Maintaining ISO 14001 & 4500 for Tynedale Roadstone
  • Assist in gaining conformity of factory production control for Barton Quarry
  • Member of the institute Quarrying

What we are looking for

  • Lead from the front to ensure a safe, efficient, and profitable operation across all site activities.
  • Ensure full compliance with H&S legislation, EA permits, environmental regulations, and internal policies.
  • NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Quarrying
  • A degree in Operations, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related disciplines is advantageous.
  • Experience of working within a role that requires compliance with section 8.1(C) of the Quarries Regulations
  • Experience in leading, managing, developing and motivating a team
  • Hands on experience in Quarry Operations
  • Good Communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Operate as part of the team, harnessing a working environment which encourages teamwork
  • Self-motivated – improvement orientated with a desire to undertake any other relevant training deemed necessary to enhance performance.
  • Must hold a full, clean UK Driving licence
  • Geotechnical Level 3 (desirable but not essential)
