About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and driven plant maintenance professional to join our team.
The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers and labourers, working with the Transport Maintenance Manager and Stores Teams to maintain and maximise equipment uptime.
The role is based in Newcastle and requires previous workshop management experience. The candidate will offer technical expertise, develop the existing team, and deliver maintenance plans.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of Plant Fitters
- Programme routine services and inspections for the machinery and equipment, ensuring they meet the required standards and regulations
- Monitor Health & Safety across the site and team, implementing policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
- Ensure completion of all inspection/service job cards, recording the details of the work done and the parts used
- Procure parts and manage spare parts/stock control, negotiating with suppliers and maintaining inventory records
- Foster a proactive approach to programming work, anticipating potential issues and planning ahead to avoid delays and disruptions
- Monitor customer issues, feedback, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Operate as part of the team in the workshop, performing hands-on tasks such as welding, cutting, drilling, and assembling
- Prioritise breakdowns and workload efficiently, allocating resources and staff accordingly and communicating with customers and managers
- Possess excellent communication, organisation, IT, and time management skills, as well as technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities
The ideal candidate
- Whilst we will consider applicants on an experience basis the ideal candidate will have at least NVQ L3 or equivalent such as Plant Vehicle Repairs
- Three to five years’ experience of working in a similar industry environment undertaking tasks comparable to the role
