Contracts Manager/Supervisor (Surfacing Divison)

About the role

Due to continued growth and investment, we have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Surfacing Manager or Supervisor to join our Surfacing Team on a permanent basis.

The role will provide assistance in the Surfacing Teams expansion of their North East business and therefore previous experience in a similar role is essential. With in-house surfacing and planing teams, supported by our Tynedale Roadstone facilities we offer a fully vertical integrated solution to our clients from quarry to road.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the day-to-day monitoring of operations on small to large scale surfacing projects for all matters of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality, supervising operatives, completing relevant site paperwork and management of labour, plant, materials and subcontractors; ensuring projects are completed safely and in accordance with programme, budget and quality.

The role is primarily based in the North East, however you may be required to work on any site on which we operate within the UK so a full driving licence is essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Preplanning and programming of the works
  • Arranging pre site inspections and measurements
  • Arranging labour, plant and materials for the work activities inc. sweepers, tankers, water bowsers
  • Contractual management
  • Site briefings
  • Supervision of operatives, ensuring processes and management systems are fully communicated and adhered too
  • Monitoring daily performance on site
  • Account management
  • Review performance of the project – both financially and operationally to learn from performance
  • Ensure the correct documentation is held on site
  • Ensure works are completed on time and to specification
  • Aiding the early identification and notification of contract variances
  • Ensure works are carried out in line with agreed Method and Methodology

Essential

  • All applicants should hold qualifications relevant to the position being applied for.
  • A CSCS card is essential. 

What we are looking for

  • Previous Surfacing experience, either as a Manager or a Supervisor – advanced knowledge of surfacing materials, laying practices and standards
  • HNC Qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Proactively and positively promote Health & Safety at all times
  • Operate as part of the team, harnessing a working environment which encourages teamwork
  • Excellent organisation, communication, IT and time management skills
  • Ambitious and professional – improvement orientated with a desire to undertake any other relevant training deemed necessary to enhance performance
  • The ability to empathise and communicate with people
  • Ability to manage workload and ask for help and guidance when required
  • You will be career driven, resilient and have a strong work ethic
  • You will be a hands-on, enthusiastic individual who will be involved and invested in the company’s long-term future and success
  • Applicants holding additional certification such as SSSTS / SMSTS, First Aid at Work and Streetworks will be at an advantage.
