About the Role
We are seeking a driven and motivated Civils Contracts Manager to join our established Contracts Management team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience delivering large-scale civil engineering projects, excellent leadership capabilities, and a collaborative approach aligned with a team of like-minded professionals.
The role is primarily based in the North East, however you may be required to work on any site on which we operate within the UK so a full driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple concurrent civil engineering projects and teams, including schemes valued at £10m+.
- Safely and efficiently deliver projects while effectively utilising directly employed staff, labour resources, and company-owned plant.
- Lead and manage subcontractors to ensure performance, compliance, and quality delivery.
- Apply strong contractual awareness with NEC and JCT contracts; FIDIC knowledge is an advantage.
- Work closely with Commercial teams, demonstrating strong commercial understanding and cost awareness.
- Collaborate with Estimating, Planning, and Operational teams, contributing to planning, programming, and project strategy.
- Build and nurture new client relationships while maintaining and strengthening existing ones.
- Support, mentor, and help develop existing staff, contributing to a positive and progressive team culture.
Requirements
- Proven track record as a Contract Manager or senior project professional within civil engineering whilst self-delivering projects with directly employed labour and company owned plant.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commercially aware with the ability to interpret financial and contractual information.
- Demonstrated experience with planning and programming methodologies.
- Willingness to work within a team and have a collaborative approach aligned with a team of like-minded professionals.
- Full UK driving licence.
