Rainton Construction has completed the extension of the long-term car park at Newcastle International Airport. This is a key milestone in the Airport’s wider Masterplan 2040 to meet growing passenger demand.

The expansion involved adding just under 1,800 new bays on a greenfield site north of the existing facility. This development significantly boosts capacity and enhances the passenger experience ahead of anticipated growth.

Our team delivered the highest standard when delivering the scope of works. This included bulk excavation and earthworks, incorporating cut-and-fill operations and full site preparation. A swale was formed along one side of the car park perimeter, with headwalls, and two attenuation tanks were installed (a 3,000 m³ tank and a smaller tank of approximately 100 m³). Electrical and security infrastructure was delivered with over 5,000 metres of ducting for power, CCTV, and data, plus a comprehensive lighting scheme. The extension was completed with our durable asphalt surfacing and clear road markings.
