Rainton Construction has played a key role as a delivery partner to Morgan Sindall Infrastructure on the Blyth Bebside Station, part of the Northumberland Line project. The station’s official opening marks a significant step forward, enabling residents to reach Newcastle in under 30 minutes and improving regional connectivity.
The team delivered a substantial package of works. In addition to civil engineering, MGL Earthworks carried out the bulk earthworks, marking the second station on the Northumberland Line supported by the group.
Despite complex challenges, the Rainton Construction team successfully delivered core station infrastructure, including:
- Twin platforms and a fully accessible footbridge with lift access on both sides
- A newly constructed car park and access road
- A cycle and pedestrian bridge over the A189, directly linking northern Blyth to the station
The opening of Blyth Bebside Station represents more than a transport milestone. It supports the reintroduction of passenger rail services for the first time in 60 years, helping to drive economic growth, improve access to education and employment, and promote sustainable travel across the region.
