A sustainable approach to high quality asphalt products
Plastipave® is a long-term, cost-effective and sustainable asphalt solution for end-of-use waste streams. It is produced in accordance with our accredited quality system and the relevant British Standards or proprietary specifications, including the requirements of Highways England.
We adopt an environmentally friendly approach to highway maintenance. Through our business Tynedale Roadstone, we develop and self-deliver a range of innovative asphalt solutions. We recycle locally sourced, end-of-use plastic and tyre waste which we then put into our asphalt products to reduce the volume of virgin aggregates used and lay on local road networks through our surfacing division, part of Rainton Construction.
Every 20 tonnes of Plastipave produced incorporates over 1,000 single use carrier bags and the residue from over 50 car tyres with the potential to reduce carbon emissions by over 270kg.
With agreement from our Local Authority partner, Durham County Council, we have laid Plastipave on numerous carriageways in the area, including a large section of dual carriageway on the A689 in County Durham. By using Plastipave materials on this scheme over 6.5 tonnes of waste plastic was saved through re-use, which is the equivalent to over 230,000 plastic shopping bags going to landfill.
A warm mixed asphalt solution supplied at a reduced temperature without reduced performance.
A single layer solution for residential and minor carriageway resurfacing.
A footway material that replaces the requirement for traditional two course construction and allows completion of the surfacing in one layer.
Produced in line with Clause 942 pavement technology and incorporating ‘waste’ addition to the mix.
Allows rain and flood water to percolate through the asphalt layers into the lower strata, reducing the risk of surge water.
