Plastipave®

A sustainable approach to high quality asphalt products

Plastipave® is a long-lasting, cost-effective, and sustainable asphalt solution that addresses end-of-life plastic waste. Developed by Tynedale Roadstone, this innovative asphalt incorporates single-use plastic waste and rubber crumb from vehicle tyres, significantly reducing the need for virgin aggregates.

Our products are produced following our accredited quality system and the relevant British Standards or proprietary specifications, including the requirements of National Highways England.

Used by Rainton Construction on road surfacing schemes across the North East of England, Plastipave is paving the way for a more sustainable future. It is now standard practice on all projects as part of Durham County Council’s Framework for Surfacing and Planing. A scheme on the A689 in County Durham used our innovative material and this diverted the equivalent of over 230,000 plastic shopping bags from landfill.

Key Products

A warm mixed asphalt solution supplied at a reduced temperature without compromising performance.

A single-layer solution for residential and minor carriageway resurfacing.

A footway material that replaces the need for traditional two-course construction, allowing completion of the surfacing in one layer.

Produced per Clause 942 pavement technology, it incorporates ‘waste’ into the mix.

This material allows rain and flood water to percolate through the asphalt layers into the lower strata, reducing the risk of surge water.

Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future

MGL Group has been recognised for its innovative and sustainable approach, winning the Innovation and Sustainability categories at the CENE Awards. This recognition highlights our commitment to environmental stewardship and our dedication to pioneering sustainable solutions in the construction industry.

Every 20 tonnes of Plastipave diverts thousands of plastic bags and tyres from landfills, potentially reducing carbon emissions by over 270 kg.
