We had a fantastic day at the Smart Construction event, held at the Catalyst Building, Newcastle University, connecting with industry professionals who share our passion for driving innovation in the built environment.
Our stand highlighted MGL Group’s commitment to the circular economy, showcasing a range of sustainable materials and technologies. Experts Dave Whitehouse, Head of Research & Product Development, and Will Slack, Head of Technical, shared insights into our award-winning Plastipave® surfacing material, which incorporates end-of-life plastic, and our pioneering net zero asphalt.
Developed in partnership with Durham County Council and Low Carbon Materials (LCM), this ground-breaking product has already removed over 316,000 kg of CO2e, equivalent to driving around the Earth 77 times!
Visitors also explored Hazigrip®, our high-performance anti-skid surface, and learned about our cutting-edge Soil Wash Plant in Newburn, Newcastle upon Tyne. Now fully operational, the facility processes up to 160 tonnes of construction and demolition waste per hour, transforming soil-bound waste into clean, high-quality recycled aggregates and premium washed sand.
A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to explore the future of construction, and to the Constructing Excellence in the North East (CENE) team for organising another superb event!
