MGL Group Donation Empowers Learners Through Community Project

Recently the Ridgeway Education Team received its first delivery of timber and materials donated by MGL Group. Ridgeway carpentry learners will use the resources to build hedgehog habitats for local community organisations and charities. This will enable them to develop valuable practical skills, work towards qualifications, and contribute to meaningful projects that meet real needs across the North East.

Once the habitats are complete, the aim is to expand the initiative by producing a wider range of items for local distribution.

Gary Peters, Carpentry Workshop Lead said, “This is the beginning of a really exciting opportunity to work with MGL Group whose social values are aligned to our Trust values and also a fantastic opportunity for our learners to work with a commercial company to gain a broader range of skills and to contribute something positive to their local community.”

Greg Chapman, MGL Group’s Social Value Manager, added, “This is more than just donating materials and resources; it’s about creating opportunities for learners to build confidence, develop hands-on skills, and feel part of something bigger. We’re proud to work with a team that shares our values, and we would also like to thank Joseph Parr (Middlesbrough) for their kind contribution to this project.”

We look forward to seeing the positive outcomes this collaboration will continue to deliver for learners, communities, and the environment.
