MGL Group and K2 Construction Management Host Annual Charity Golf Day

MGL Group and K2 Construction Management recently held their annual charity golf day at Rockliffe Hall Hotel & Spa near Darlington, County Durham. The event brought together clients, colleagues, and industry partners and raised over £6,500 for The Lighthouse Charity, which provides emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

The day began with a Shotgun start and featured 18 holes of championship golf. Along the course, players participated in a series of competitions hosted by Broken Playaz, an organisation supporting disabled golfers. This is always a highlight of the event. Teams enjoyed refreshments at the Halfway House, and the day concluded with a putting competition, BBQ, and awards presentation.

Rainton Construction, part of MGL Group, plays a key role in K2CM’s delivery of the world’s largest monopile factory for SeAH Wind at the Teesworks site. Beyond construction, both organisations are committed to prioritising the wellbeing of the people behind the projects.

According to The Lighthouse Charity, two construction workers take their own lives every working day in the UK. With suicide rates in the industry three times higher than the national average, the need for mental health support has never been more urgent. Starting conversations and breaking the stigma around seeking help is essential.

This ongoing partnership reflects a shared dedication to championing mental health awareness. MGL Group and K2CM are proud company supporters of The Lighthouse Charity and remain committed to helping build a stronger, more resilient workforce.

Dave Elliott, Joint Chief Executive of MGL Group, said: “It’s always a pleasure to partner with K2 Construction Management for our annual charity golf day in aid of The Lighthouse Charity. A huge thank you to all the businesses who joined us; the funds raised today will make a significant difference. Mental health remains a critical issue in the construction industry, and we’re proud to play our part in building a culture where openness, support, and compassion are part of everyday working life.”

James Grant, Head of ESG and Corporate Relations at K2 Construction Management, concluded: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us for this year’s charity golf day. The sun was shining, the golf was superb, and the generosity shown by all involved has helped raise a fantastic sum for The Lighthouse Charity—a cause that does such vital work supporting the wellbeing of people across our industry. A special thank you to Broken Playaz, whose energy, humour and support added a brilliant dimension to the day.”
