Our Head of Demolition, Mark Davison, recently represented MGL Demolition at the NFDC Talks Event, held at the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Organised in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive and the Institute of Demolition Engineers, this seminar series brings together professionals from construction, infrastructure, and property development to explore intelligent planning and the crucial role of clients in successful demolition projects.
Mark delivered a presentation on the demolition of the Wynne Jones Building, a Northumbria University study facility that was removed to make way for the new North East Space Skills and Technology Centre, a £50 million investment in the region’s space industry. His talk focused on the challenges of working in a city centre environment, our collaborative approach with stakeholders, and the innovative methods used throughout the project.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to network with industry professionals, share best practices, and highlight the importance of early client engagement in delivering effective demolition works.
Thank you to the organisers and to everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation. Session like these are vital for sharing knowledge and advancing best practice across the industry.
