Acting as career advisors on behalf of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and through our ongoing partnership with Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy, we are helping to shape the delivery of careers education in the region.
To help it fulfil the requirements of the government’s Gatsby Benchmark careers programme, we presented to Year 10 students on their career and training options beyond school. We gave an overview of the type of work carried out by our businesses and members of Team MGL discussed their role and qualifications, talking through their career history and current job description. This provided an overview of the opportunities that exist in our industry.
We also undertook weekly sessions to ensure all year 11 had the opportunity for a mock interview. Through our engagement programme we are supporting 258 pupils, helping them to improve confidence and give them an opportunity to practise interview skills.
By driving ‘earn and learn’ skills training opportunities we can secure our future pipeline of talent and inspire a generation of future employees to address the critical skills challenges in a proactive and positive way.
