About the Role
Due to continued growth and investment, Rainton Construction, part of MGL Group, has exciting opportunities for experienced Drain Layers to join our Civils Teams on a permanent basis.
The ideal candidates will have strong experience delivering civil drainage and excavation projects, excellent practical skills, and a collaborative approach, working alongside a team of dedicated professionals.
The role is primarily based in the North East, however you may be required to work on any site on which we operate within the UK so a full driving licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Installation of surface and foul water drainage.
- Excavation and trenching works in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Laying Pipes of varying diameters up to 1200mm.
- Installing temporary works as per the design.
- Installation of interceptors and various other type of tanks.
- Performing general maintenance and supporting wider civils activities
- Assisting with CCTV surveys of drainage systems.
- Ensuring all works are carried out safely and in compliance with site procedures
Requirements
- Relevant on-site experience (3+ years is preferred).
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations on construction sites.
- Knowledge of drainage installation techniques, pipe materials, and jointing methods.
- Reliable, Punctual, and committed to quality workmanship.
- Relevant qualifications and certifications, including:
- CSCS cars (supervisor or manager level)
- SSSTS OR SMSTS (Preferred)
- First Aid at Work (Preferred)
